Why do I support Mission 98?
Their mission resonates with me, it’s simple. It’s not simple in the “easy” kind of way, but it’s simple in an anyone can do this kind of way. When I first heard about Mission 98 and apartment ministry, I thought, these people are on to something.
Through the Community Growth Foundation, Mission 98 gets three things:
Mission 98 gets the Great Commission. The Great Commission is meant to be lived out in our daily lives, in the places we live, not just the faraway places we visit, and I don’t know about you, but where I live, there are lots of apartment communities and within those communities, there are lots of people. Lots of people who need Jesus.
Mission 98 gets proximity and the power of community lead to discipleship. Discipleship rarely happens without relationship, and relationships rarely happens without proximity and shared experiences, community. Mission 98 believes that these types of relationships are what support the message of the Gospel in apartments across the United States. It’s simple, it’s approachable, it’s doable. And might I venture to say…it’s wildly Biblical!
Mission 98 gets multiplication. They teach others how to engage apartment communities: everyone! Churches, parachurches, individuals, and they show people how to teach others about apartment ministry. You can live anywhere, in New York, North Dakota, or Nevada. If you want to learn about apartment ministry, they will teach you, and they will teach you for free.
The Great Commission, the power of community, that leads to discipleship, and multiplication?
I’m in.
