On Saturday, November 1st, 2025, we are joining together with our friends at CityLife to rally people across the United States to pray over apartment communities. We want to saturate apartments across the U.S. with prayer.
As we walk through apartment courtyards, sidewalks, and parking lots, we will be praying for the residents who call apartments home. We will do this by praying for their physical needs, emotional peace, openness to God, and a sense of belonging.
At Mission 98, we always love to have students join our prayer walks. At a recent walk, we met Elyse. Elyse asked lots of good questions during the walk and so we asked her to share about her experience praying for people she didn’t know in a local apartment community. Here’s more from Elyse.
I wish people knew how much residents are searching for a community and how difficult it can be in an apartment complex. Many of our residents don’t leave their homes much or have little to no family in the area and are longing for a kind word, a smile, or even deep conversations.
As church attendance continues to decrease, the number of people living in multi-housing communities continues to increase.
What scripture do you refer to when describing your apartment ministry? We like to reflect on Matthew 25, when Jesus said, “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” Apartment complexes bring an assortment of people. It definitely brings people we wouldn’t typically interact with. However, The Lord gifts us with the ability to interact with various people and we often find these interactions bless our family in ways we never could have foreseen.
